How to Identify and Treat Wild Violets

Lovely when they bloom in spring, these perennials with heart-shaped leaves turn into persistent weeds the rest of the growing season. Colonies usually start in shady spots and spread into sunnier areas. In small batches, they can be controlled by digging them up, being sure to remove the entire root. If the wild violets are wide-spread, Arbor-Nomics has a three application program that will begin in late May or early June to help eradicate this weed.
